Wine from between the ocean and the Scarp
GEOGRAPHE wine region lives in the shadow of Margaret River, but it produces some great wines of its own and deserves to be better known.
The region stretches from Harvey in the South and inland to Donnybrook. It includes the City of Bunbury, and the Ferguson Valley. The region hugs Geographe Bay with the cooling afternoon sea breezes being a hallmark of a long stable growing season. Many of the Geographe vineyards were planted in the late 90’s and are now well established and producing wine of consistent high quality. The region excels at Chardonnay and Shiraz, with excellent Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
Lesser known as varieties from Italy and Spain are also making a name for themselves – grapes such as Arneis, Vermentino, Tempranillo, Durif and Nebiolo to name a few.
Vineyard 28 Arneis 2015
Vineyard 28 Arneis 2015 is pale yellow straw colour with aromatic bouquet pronounced floral character and luscious crisp mouthfeel. Arneis is a white Italian variety of grape rarely grown in WA partly because it is considered difficult to grow. Vineyard 28 has the source block of this variety. RRP $22

Vineyard 28 cellar door reopens Saturday 6th February.
As we advised the Western Australian Bush Fires (Waroona Harvey Fire) that commenced on 7th January 2016, came close to Vineyard 28, scarily close. Almost a month later and we are ready to re-open the cellar door.
Saturday 6th February 2016 our cellar door will be open from 10am.
Electricity has been restored, all the cleaning is done and we are ready to welcome you back to visiting us here at the cellar door. The surrounding bush is already showing signs of recovery and it is truly amazing to see the new green shoots appearing.
Jasper has missed all his friendly customers……..
We’ve commenced vintage with the first harvest of the muscat grapes. Lots of testing will been done on all the grapes re possible smoke issues, and will continue throughout vintage. There is no “one” simple test for this matter, it is subject to many factors, e.g. what stage the grapes were at, their variety, how long they were under smoke and many more factors.
Please be assured we will only be making wine from those grapes that we are 100% confident about. Our fruit at the Wildwater Vineyard in Harvey was not exposed at all to smoke, and nor was the additional Sauvignon Blanc for our Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend.
We are very appreciative of the support shown to us and especially, YOU – our lovely customers who have helped by ordering our wine online.
We look forward to having you visit at the cellar door and welcoming you back to our special part of the world.
As many people will know the Western Australian Bush Fires of the last few days came close to Vineyard 28, scarily close.
The house, the winery and the cellar door survived. The vines and fruit will have to be accessed for smoke damage but the good news is all the current wine is ok. We now have some power via several big noisy generators. The adrenaline rush is over, but the hard work continues, cleaning up, washing, checking for embers and spot fires. Then getting back on track.
Our cellar door will be closed for 2-3 weeks , so please bear with us as we get everything sorted, cleaned and really to reopen. Online sales are available.
The best thing anyone can do now to help us is to buy our wine, this is a real ‘fire sale’.
Place your orders online or email through your order.
NO phone orders please as our phones are currently needed for emergency communication at this stage.
We are so grateful to our neighbours, friends and everyone who has helped by sending messages, food and other forms of support.
