Just been away up in the hills this morning to our Wildwater site to check on the muscat vines.
Don’s girls – the guinea fowl – keeping an eye on us whilst we worked.
All looking good – should be taking a first crop off this patch in 2016.

Well whilst some have been winding down from Christmas celebrations and getting ready for New Year,
here at Vineyard 28 we do it a little differently. Been away early the last two mornings to beat the heat,
up to the Wildwater Vineyard to spend some time looking after the Muscat grafts. Excellent growth overall.

This morning we picked the Arneis, and here is the crew recovering with morning tea.
Quite humid sticky morning.
It’s official, the 2015 Vintage is underway at Vineyard 28. Early on Sunday 25th January, the first of the grapes – Muscat Petit a Grains were harvested for the 2015 Moscato. The photos to the left shows the muscat fruit being tipped into the crusher/destemmer, before going off to the press.
Already the 2015 Moscato is looking yummy

Wine of the Week
Vineyard 28 the Alternative Arneis 2014 ($22)
If you are travelling around this summer, then the five wines I have listed this week are worth checking out at the various wineries. Vineyard 28 is a little between Mandurah and Harvey doing some good thing with this Piedmont variety. I like the crunchy, lively mouth feel here. Stacks of pear and spice with citrusy edge to it. The palate is deep and lightly textured with plenty of sustained flavour. The acid creates a clean, crisp finish. Nice current drinking wine. Go to vineyard28.com .au. 92/100
“Selling Fast – Limited Stocks Remaining”
Fermented in open stainless steel to dryness. Malolactic fermentation commences prior to the pressing and is completed in oak barrels for 2 months. The wine is then aged in a new French Oak and 2 – 4 year Old French Oak barrels for a another 6 months.
Cabernet Sauvignon (Cab Sav) is one of the most recognised grape varieties in the world and is grown in almost every major grape growing country today. Cab Sav is originally from the Bordeaux region of France where is often blended with Merlot or Cabernet Franc. Despite the prominence, the grape is a said to be a relatively new variety, which was a chance crossing between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon blanc in the 17th century in south western region of France.
Limited stocks remaining, be quick before you miss out on the last of Vineyard 28’s 2011 Cab Sav.
